Thus, for the past 14 years, the Maison has pursued the ambition of making high-end men’s footwear accessible to as many people as possible. Over the years, it has continuously refined its mastery of leather coloring. Also known as "Patina", this technique elegantly imitates the passage of time, which remains today the best guarantee of a well-crafted shoe.

La Maison Septième Largeur is now led by its founder, Mathieu Preiss. What began as a family venture in 2009 with his uncle Marcos Fernandez, a pioneer of shoemaking and a defender of the Goodyear welt in France, has evolved as Mathieu now brings a new vision while remaining the guardian of a heritage rooted in artisanal craftsmanship.

Sensitive to art and exceptional pieces, Mathieu sought to offer unique colors for his shoes. He persistently devoted himself to the subtle art of patina and initially presented his creations as a dedicated range, first showcased in a showroom in Paris’s 10th arrondissement.

From a name, a story written to the rhythm of time

For 14 years, Septième Largeur has made it its mission to make high-end men’s shoes accessible to as many people as possible. Over the years, it has continuously perfected its artisanal shoemaking techniques as well as the art of leather coloring, known as Patina.

7L originally takes its name from the shoemaking technique, through the foot measurement system used by shoemakers around the world. Today, more than just a technique, it represents all the moments of creation that we wish to share with you. From artisan to artisan-creator, there is only one step and we take it.

7L, like 7 moments, from the creation of the shoe to the life of the person who wears it. Our aim is to reclaim time and reinvent it to offer you a timeless experience: seven chapters, seven moments of style and character that form our new Manifesto.
